Human remains detection dogs play an indispensable role in solving missing person cases and accidents. With their ability to sniff out human remains even after long periods of time and under difficult conditions, they assist in the search and can provide crucial clues. The work of these dogs is not only a matter of efficiency, but also of care and sensitivity in dealing with the cases in question.
At HRDD International, we place great importance on ensuring that both dogs and their handlers receive thorough training. Our courses are comprehensive and practical, equipping teams with the skills they need for real-life situations. Our methods are regularly updated to keep pace with the latest developments in forensic science and specific operational requirements.
The work of human remains detection dog teams is crucial in finding missing persons and providing closure to their families. By choosing an HRDDI-certified team, you can be sure that you are working with professionals who:
...have extensive training and experience: Our teams undergo a rigorous training and certification programme that prepares them to handle complex tasks.
...work to the highest ethical standards: HRDD International is committed to ethical and responsible conduct in all aspects of our work.
...are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment: We use the latest scientific knowledge and technology to maximise the effectiveness of our teams.
The work of human remains detection dog teams will become increasingly important in the future. With advances in technology and the increasing complexity of missing person cases, well-trained teams will be essential in locating missing persons and securing evidence.
HRDD International is committed to playing a leading role in the advancement of human remains detection work. We will continue to develop innovative training methods, promote international cooperation and advocate for the recognition of the valuable work of human remains detection dog teams.
Professional search for missing persons presumed dead in order to provide certainty for relatives, authorities and insurance companies.
Our human remains detection dogs are deployed in civilian roles to provide humanitarian support in the search for deceased persons without performing forensic tasks.
Advice on compliance with legal requirements when searching for human remains, especially in cases where operations are only carried out on the orders of the executive authorities.
Our principle
Human Remains Detection Dogs trained for civilian use are primarily deployed in disaster and accident relief and in searches for missing persons when it is assumed that the missing person is no longer alive. Use in forensics is not part of civilian human remains search. A search in the area of suspected or actual crimes may therefore only be carried out at the direct request and order of the executive authorities. As a general rule, the police must be called immediately if a body or parts of a body are found.
Human Remains Detection Dog® INTERNATIONAL sets international standards for the requirements of a human remains dog team in a civilian context. The organisation is committed to establishing standards and guidelines for the training and deployment of dogs in the search for human remains. All member organisations undertake to apply these standards as minimum standards. HRDD International is recognised as a non-profit organisation by the german Coburg tax office. The tax number is: 212/109/10309.
Human Remains Detection Dog® INTERNATIONAL coordinates the exchange of knowledge and experience between member organisations to ensure that dog training is up to date and best practices are applied. All members commit to adhering to the standards of HRDD INTERNATIONAL.
